We bring the world of the visually impaired closer to those without vision challenges.

20. May 2024

Our expert jury evaluated the artworks of visually impaired children submitted to the 26th annual Joy to Create project. The official announcement of the results will take place on Saturday, June 1. We also think of children with visual impairments during selected film screenings, which will also be equipped with audio commentary.

This year, 105 artworks were submitted to the project by children from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and France. Their task was to artistically interpret the theme "We Paint a Song." The expert jury consisted of artist and painter Josef Ruszelák, painter, drawer, and sculptor Taťána Havlíčková, artist Jarmila Sítníková, and special education teachers Miroslava Urbánková and Kristina Balunová from the Special Education Center.

We invite all festival visitors to view children's works to the foyer of the Zlín Congress Center from May 30 to June 6, during the Zlín Film Festival.

This year, we will again recognize the work of young artists during a ceremonial event scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at 1:00 PM. We warmly invite the public to join us for the announcement of the results in the Congress Center,

said Jarmila Záhorová, Executive Director of the Zlín Film Festival. She added that a new feature this year is the opportunity to visit the exhibition even after the festival ends. It will be accessible at the Museum of Southeastern Moravia in Zlín (building 14/15) as part of the "Baťa Principle" exhibit until September 1, 2024.

For the second year, the project is also supported by the Czech Radio SVĚTLUŠKA Foundation, which will give one of the winners the opportunity to feature their artwork on the cover of a Braille music score.

This year's title will be a music score by Jaroslav Krček: Play for Me, Music, Cheerfully for Piano. The author is celebrating his 85th birthday this year, and this year's concert for art schools organized by Czech Radio will be dedicated to him,

said Gabriela Drastichová, director of the foundation.

Visually impaired visitors will have the opportunity to share emotions and experiences alongside other film enthusiasts. As part of its film program, the festival will feature two screenings with audio commentary. On Saturday, June 1, at 4:00 PM, there will be a distribution preview of the family puppet film Big Man and on Wednesday, June 5, at 4:00 PM, the fairy tale Three Golden Ducats will be shown.
