The Zlín Film Festival President Čestmír Vančura presented the award for outstanding contribution to cinematography for children and youth to actor Bolek Polívka at the closing gala.

The last prize awarded this year by the organisers of the Zlín Film Festival was the prestigious Golden Slipper for outstanding contribution to cinematography for children and youth. The award ceremony took place on Wednesday 5 June at the gala evening that closed the 64th edition of the festival.

The winner of this award was Bolek Polívka, acting legend, comedian, screenwriter and native of nearby Vizovice.

I am glad that I received the award here. I am a descendant of Vizovice amateur actors and I made it all the way here, to Zlín,

Bolek Polívka made the audience laugh and pointed out that it is not always easy at home.

Thank you for the applause. I will remember it,

he added.

Bolek Polívka has had a rich career full of prominent roles in Czech films, fairy tales, TV series and theatre plays.

In an unforgettable way, he also lent his voice to several figures from the animated series Krysáci filmed at the Film Studios in Zlín,

said Markéta Pášmová.

However, acting performances are only one of the reasons why the organisers of the Zlín Film Festival decided to recognise his work.

We are extremely honored that this outstanding film and theatre actor, winner of two Czech Lions, will enter our Film Hall of Fame and we will celebrate his upcoming 75th birthday at the gala evening on 5 June,

added Markéta Pášmová.

Bolek Polívka became the thirty-second recipient of this honorary award.  The tradition of the award, which he is taking away from Zlín, dates back to 1997, when Josef Pinkava, a Zlín-based director of feature films for children and youth, became the first recipient. In the past, the Golden Slipper has been awarded to Iva Janžurová, Eliška Balzerová, Karel Gott, Zdeněk Svěrák, Adolf Born, and last year to Pavel Nový and Zlata Adamovská.
