The Golden Slipper Statue Is Standing, the Zlín Film Festival Can Begin

One of the last points of this year's preparations for the Zlín Film Festival can be ticked off. The five-metre high statue of the Golden Slipper, which is the symbol of the film festival, is already standing in front of the congress centre. The Zlín Film Festival can therefore begin. 

The first guests are already arriving in Zlín. Especially those who are involved in the festival programme, presenters, translators, juries, delegates. In total, 53 film delegations, domestic and foreign guests, prominent personalities and school trips from all over the Czech Republic are heading to the centre of the festival action this year. The festival will host 43 school groups from 33 towns.

The opening press conference was also held today, which introduced the journalists in detail about this year's film programme, rich accompanying activities and festival news.

The Zlín Film Festival will officially kick off tomorrow, Thursday, 30 May at 10:00 a.m. with the Czech premiere of the Norwegian film Lars is LOL. The world premiere of the Czech documentary The Grand Finale of PSO by young director Dominik Kalivoda will then be shown during the opening night gala for adults.

In its film programme, the 64. Zlín Film Festival will screen 289 films from 55 countries, including exotic destinations such as the Philippines, Colombia, Ecuador, Cyprus and Thailand.

As in previous years, the festival will also include other programmes and activities at a number of venues in Zlín that will provide entertainment, education and the opportunity for meaningful leisure time for the whole family.
