Young Adult Production Was Discussed in the Expert Section

01. June 2024

Interesting conferences, presentations and opportunities for informal meetings and exchange of experiences. All this is offered by the ZLÍN INDUSTRY DAYS professional programme, which runs from Friday to Sunday and focuses in particular on the development of audiovisual content for children and young people.

Saturday's day offered film professionals, among other things, a presentation of six contemporary books for children and young people that could inspire a film treatment, as well as an expert debate focused on contemporary young adult production. Participants in the afternoon programme sought answers to questions such as the challenge of creating animated titles for teenage audiences in the digital age. It also offered a discussion on domestic production in recent years, which has produced successful projects for teenage audiences that are a national authorial response to foreign production. The programme also featured a talk show with successful Swedish screenwriter Jessika Jankert on how to write a successful film for young audiences.

The highlight of Sunday's professional programme will be the ninth edition of the international conference Cinema Off School, which will focus on the issue of working with short films, not only in the classroom. A number of Czech and foreign organisations will present their activities. The last day of the professional programme will culminate in an exceptional meeting with two founders of prestigious and respected film events in Europe. Dimitris Spyra from Greece and Jerzy Moszkowicz from Poland, who have dedicated a significant part of their lives to building festivals for children and youth, will be honoured for this contribution during the meeting.
