The 64th Zlín Film Festival Announced the Winning Films at the Gala Evening

This year's Zlín Film Festival has come to an end. Seven days filled with films once again brought Zlín to life, screening movies from both traditional and exotic countries. Juries in 6 competition sections watched a total of 126 films and selected the winners. The Golden Slippers were awarded to the films Coco Farm, Young Hearts, Yurt, and Magic Candies. The Golden Slipper for Outstanding Contribution to Children's and Youth Cinema was received by actor Bolek Polívka at the conclusion of the festival.
From May 30 to June 5, Zlín hosted the 64th International Festival of Films for Children and Youth. The competition sections showcased feature films, short animated films, and documentaries. The international expert juries awarded the Golden Slippers to the following films: the Canadian film Coco Farm as the best feature film for children, the Belgian-Dutch film Young Hearts as the best feature film for adolescents, the Turkish-German-French film Yurt as the best feature film for youth, and in the category of short animated films for children, the Japanese film Magic Candies.
Among the Czech participants in the competitions, the short animated films About a Bark Beetle, Everything We Missed, and the student film The Eighth Day were successful.
The awards in the main categories were announced at the gala evening on Wednesday, June 5, which was broadcast live by ČT Art. Some awards had already been revealed during the final days of the Zlín Film Festival. The children's and youth jury awards were announced and presented by the festival organizers on Tuesday, June 4, during the film screenings. The children's jury selected the film Coco Farm, while the youth jury awarded the film On Earth as in Heaven.
Additional awards were announced during the closing ceremony at the Zlín Film Festival's final press conference on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 5. The Film Award of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic was won by Jáchym Vlček, an 8th-grade student from Jičín, for his short animation The Journey of a Bottle. The ECFA Doc Award for the best European documentary for young audiences went to the German-Jordanian film Tell Them About Us. The Ecumenical Jury Award for the best feature film for adolescents and youth was awarded to the French film Sisterhood.
Festival President Čestmír Vančura decided to award a special prize to the film documentary The Grand Finale for its authentic portrayal of an inspirational story of young people.
It carries the message of our festival, inspiring the upcoming generation not to be afraid to pursue their dreams and to surround themselves with people of the same DNA.
The 64th Zlín Film Festival once again boasted high attendance. More than 24,000 moviegoers attended 289 screenings in the cinemas. The supporting program welcomed around 90,000 visitors. The festival was attended by 3,326 accredited participants, an increase of almost a third compared to last year.
There was also great interest from school groups, of which we welcomed a total of 79. Some classes come to us for the film program, workshops, and entertainment from practically all over the Czech Republic,
